Parks & Recreation

Levee Walk

scenic-lookoutYou’ll definitely enjoy a stroll on Canton’s levee walk!  The accessible trailhead is located at 1st and Lewis Streets where you can absorb information at the kiosk and enjoy the observation deck.  There’s nothing quite like seeing the sunrise from the levee walk or enjoying the breeze off the river!

Veterans Memorial Park

Canton’s newest park is located southeast of Oak Hill Inn and Suites at the junction of Brose & Wyaconda Avenues. It features both paved and gravel trail that totals just short of 1/3 mile. Come enjoy the swings, benches, trees and dog park!  The dog park is divided to accommodate both large and small dogs.

Central Park

Central Park is located at 5th & Lewis Streets in the downtown business district. It has picnic tables and playground equipment. The community time capsule, buried during the 1976 Bicentennial, is located in Central Park, along with a replica of the Liberty Bell.

Martin Park

Martin Park is located at 4th & Green Streets, south of the main business district. It encompasses a complete city block. Martin Park has two shelter houses, BBQ facilities, restrooms and playground equipment. The park is home to several historical markers and the historic Lincoln School, located in the NE corner of the park.

Cotton Bowl Park

Cotton Bowl Park is located at 11th & Hampton Lane. Cotton Bowl Park is home to summer baseball and softball leagues that play on the fields located there. There is also a concession stand area with basketball courts available. It is the home field for Canton RV teams.

Mississippi Park

Mississippi Park is located on the Canton Riverfront. Camping is also available here along the riverfront. Click here for more details on Mississippi Park.

Observation Platform at the Lock and Dam

Mississippi Lock and Dam #20 opened in 1935. Fully operational, the facility was listed in the National Register of Historic Places in 2004. The observation platform allows visitors a closer view of all types of watercraft as they approach or leave the lock.

WET – Wetlands Education Trail

501 S. 2nd Street.
Our Wetlands ponding area is now skirted by a gravel trail that includes three bridges. Great for a nature walk or mountain bike ride for an up close and personal view of some of our local birds.

River Valley Community Course

River Valley Community Course is located just south of Canton off State Highway B.  River Valley is a nine-hole course with 18 holes of Disc-Golf featuring zoysia grass and watered fairways.  You can book your tee time on their website or call 573-288-0057.  Weekday hours are 9 am-7 pm and weekend hours are 8 am-7 pm.
