publiclibraryThe Canton Public Library is located at 403 Lewis Street.  It offers a wide variety of reading materials from current releases to historic information. Special programs are held throughout the year for children and youth of all ages.  The library also offers events for adults.  Mary Kay Lane is the Library Director.

Visit the library’s website at Cantonmopubliclibrary.org for up-to-date information about the library and all its scheduled events.  New hours of operation at 403 Lewis Street are Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday from 9:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m., Thursday from 9:00 a.m. – 7:00 p.m. and  Saturday from 9:00 a.m.- Noon.  The phone number for the library is 573-288-5279.  Patrons can renew their library materials via email by contacting the library at cantonmopubliclibrary@gmail.com. Please include the number of materials checked out and the due date.  The library is now automated and the library catalog can be accessed at https://cantonlibrary.follettdestiny.com

The Library has public access computers available to the general public. Although the use of the computers is free, patrons must sign a consent form. Computer patrons under the age of 18 are required to have their parents sign the consent form allowing them to use the internet.

The Canton Public Library holds open Board Meetings at 6:30 p.m. on the second Tuesday of every month, excluding December. Anyone who may have ideas or suggestions for the library is welcome to attend.  The Canton Public Library Board and Staff encourage everyone to take advantage of the benefits offered by the library.

Carl Johann Memorial Library

The Carl Johann Memorial Library (located on the campus of Culver-Stockton College) offers services, equipment and materials, which support the academic curriculum.  The library is open to the public with numerous resources available for young and old. There is also a children’s reading area and a coffee shop (the Lab) with beautiful views of Canton, located in the building.

 

Lewis County Historical Society Library & Museum

The Lewis County Historical Society Museum is located at 102 North 4th Street. This is also home to the Lewis County Historical Society. The museum is also an extensive research facility on Lewis County history and families. Started by Stuart and Jean Purvines to house their extensive collection of genealogical research on Lewis County families, the society & museum is manned by volunteers willing to help you find a link to your past. Hours are Tuesday & Thursdays 8:00 AM to 3:00 PM or by appointment on Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays & Saturdays. Remember When Toy Museum

The Remember When Toy Museum (Golden Age Toys) is located 19481 State Hwy B  South of Canton. The museum houses a collection of over 10,000 antique toys with guided tours and the largest single on display collection of  Marx toys in the world.
