Missouri Community Betterment Awards
Canton 2003 Grand Prize Community
Governor Bob Holden honored a number of communities and leaders for their accomplishments in improving quality of life at the 2003 Missouri Community Betterment (MCB) Awards this evening in Columbia. The city of Canton in Lewis County won the grand prize award for their outstanding involvement with community betterment projects.
Canton was honored with the Grand Prize because of the way the community pulled together after the devastating tornado that hit May 10, 2003. A presentation was put together by community leaders to show the devastation, the community spirit and pride during the clean-up and rebuilding.
